What we do

Llanhilleth Miners Institute is a Registered Charity and Social Enterprise located within one of the most deprived ex-coalmining areas of Blaenau Gwent. We run a number of community-based projects aimed at widening participation, tackling local themes of poverty and social exclusion, supporting local community needs, whilst building the skills, confidence and aspirations of local people, many of whom are themselves socially excluded.

Who do we support

The Institute is open to the public and supports the community with a range of services. We offer a range of volunteering opportunities, cookery classes through our Food Hub and provide help and support with reading and writing. Our Children's Centre Clwb Llan supports local children and provides engagement activities throughout the year.
Our Advice and Support Helpline offers free and confidential support to help with issues such as benefits, form filling, domestic and substance abuse among others. We also run a monthly luncheon club for seniors, providing a two course meal, entertainment and a place to meet old and new friends. We run a range of other social and educational activities throughout the year as well as our on site community café. There are also a number of community classes hosted at the Institute including a Tea Dance and knitting group.

Depends - Charges vary depending on the nature of the booking/event taking place. Please contact 01495 400204 to discuss bookings and charges.
