What we do

Welsh Government recognises that affordable, available, and accessible childcare enables parents to work or study, supporting its drive to increase economic growth, tackle poverty and reduce inequalities.

The Childcare Offer for Wales offers working parents or parents in education or training of 3 and 4-year-olds up to 30 hours of Foundation Learning (early education) and registered childcare a week. The 30 hours of funding is made up of at least 10 hours of Foundation Learning and up to 20 hours of childcare a week.

Who do we support

The Childcare Offer is open to any family living in Wales as long as they meet the following eligibility criteria:

Your child is 3 - 4 years’ old;
Both parents /co-habiting couples must be working or in education or training in a two-parent family, or the sole parent in a lone parent family;
Earn a weekly minimum equivalent of 16 hours at the national minimum wage or national living wage;
OR be in receipt of specific caring benefits, provided the other parent meets the income requirement;
Earn less than the maximum income of £100,000 per annum per parent;
If you have a partner who lives with you, they must also meet the criteria.

Some eligibility exceptions apply.

To ensure that the childcare element of the Offer is inclusive to eligible children who
