What we do

Do you like gardening, or would you like to learn more about gardening? Do you like working outside? Getting to know nature? Do you enjoy working with other people? Would you like to learn new skills?

If so, this opportunity may be for you.

This is a great place to stay active and help create a peaceful mind.

TARAGGAN stands for Tenants and Residents Association Green Gym and Nursery and is an organic community garden and allotment project in the Gilfach area of Bargoed (opposite the community centre) which is open for both residents and non -residents of the area.

We grow organic fruit and vegetables, and also have a pond and wild flower garden amongst other things and we are looking for friendly people to join our volunteer team.

Gardening and allotment experience is not necessary, just a friendly attitude and an ability to learn. There are number of jobs you can learn from planting, digging and weeding to general garden maintenance.

Who do we support

Everyone over 18 is welcome to become a volunteer at Taraggan

We are able to support people with mental health issues and we have wheelchair access and accessible raised beds and can flexible with jobs so we can be inclusive of people with physical limitation, and those with and without disabilities.

Our volunteers will benefit from free organic produce grown on site.

A friendly attitude, ability to work as a team, and willingness to learn new skills.

Please note that during the winter months, volunteers may be asked to help out with maintenance work such as painting.

There is a bus stop directly outside the venue. There is a free car park to the rear of the community centre which is opposite Taraggan

No referral needed. health and Safety Form and Covid-19 Safety form must be signed before becoming a volunteer
