What we do

Friends of Cardiff Reservoirs (FoCR) works with Welsh Water to manage and improve the diversity of the Llanishen reservoir site. We develop and manage volunteering opportunities which FoCR members can sign up to via a bespoke website - these include environmental activity such as woodland management or biodiversity surveys. There also opportunities to support special events and projects. A project in the near future, for example, will focus on capturing people's memories of the reservoir site, and compiling a digital archive of stories, photos, videos etc.

Who do we support

Everyone is welcome to visit the reservoir site and the visitor centre. Most volunteering opportunities have a minimum age limit of 18 years. Community groups working with children or vulnerable adults are welcome to contact us and we can plan together a suitable guided visit.

Is there a charge to use this service?

Depends - Visiting the site is free of charge, but there are charges for parking (if more than 1.5 hours) the cafe, water sport activities, room bookings and Ranger services.

Can anyone use this service?

Anyone can visit and anyone can become a member of Friends of Cardiff Reservoirs in order to volunteer (although most opportunities are for 18 years +). Volunteer led guided walks and hosted events need to be arranged through a recognised community group, and jointly managed.
