What we do

I am the local authorities Carer Support Coordinator, where I support unpaid carers in the area of Merthyr Tydfil. I work with carers and colleagues to improve outcomes for carers in a way that ensures early identification and promotes the benefits of supporting carers to maintain their caring role. I also work with carers to develop conversations with the individual carer, exploring their needs and desired outcomes. Working collaboratively to identify the support and/or services which are appropriate and responsive to their needs and enable them to continue for as long as possible in their caring role. Another aspect of my role is to, promote the voice of carers and ensure they feel listened to about matters which are important to them.

Who do we support

The unpaid carers of Merthyr Tydfil. To be clear, if you are a carer that is receiving benefits, direct payments, carers allowance etc, you are still an unpaid carer of the community and can access this service. An unpaid carer is someone who supports and provides care to a loved one with an illness, disability, mental health condition, addiction, anyone that can not cope without their support.

Working hours are 4 days a week, 9am-5pm, an immediate response is not expected I will get back to you as soon as possible.
