Welcome to the Merthyr Tydfil Mendicants. Some people beg for profit - others beg for need. People who beg for others are called Mendicants. We are Merthyr’s helping hand.Merthyr Tydfil Mendicants is possibly one of the oldest charities in Merthyr and we raise funds through public donations throughout the year. We hold a number of social events in the Conservative Club, Masonic Street, but have a strong presence, featuring our Christmas sleigh at Tesco Extra, the Cyfarthfa Retail Park and the shopping precinct in December.Mendicants hold monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month, usually at the Conservative Club in the town centre. Meetings are recorded, forthcoming events planned and requests for financial assistance discussed and sanctioned where necessary. If you would like further information about becoming a Mendicant, please contact us.
All funds raised are used locally to provide a range of gifts in kind to individuals in the community in need or hardship and certain organisations and charities.
