What we do

The Emotional Wellbeing Service is an early intervention and support service for children and young people between 10 and 17 in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The service has been developed in order to provide triage, assessment and brief interventions to support children and young people with emotional and mental health issues difficulties and/or those engaging in risk-taking behaviours. The objective of EWS is to provide a preventative service with the aim of de-escalating future referrals into more complex services.

The Emotional Wellbeing Service is a free and confidential service and focuses on providing early intervention support to promote good mental health, self-esteem, emotional resilience and regulation, plus issues related to wider risk taking behaviour. These may include, but are not limited to:

• Mental health and emotional wellbeing
• Drugs and alcohol
• Self-harm
• Criminal activity
• Safer sex/healthy relationships
