What we do

This is a specialist service of practitioners with professional Social Work and other professional qualifications who undertake statutory and non-statutory responsibilities in relation to school attendance, Safeguarding, Elective Home Education and children who are in entertainment and employment. The main function is to promote good school attendance by supporting the social, emotional and the academic development of young people by ensuring they access education regularly. It works alongside schools, families and other professionals to address a range of matters. This is done by undertaking holistic assessments which can conclude in parental prosecutions, fixed penalty notices, school attendance orders, parenting orders / contracts in addition to the direct preventative work. High levels of skills and knowledge are essential to effectively analyse these complex situations to ensure that appropriate support is offered, thereby creating positive outcomes.
