What we do

Newport Carers Forum now also hosts a Drop-In Centre
Every Friday from 10.30 to 13.30.
Venue: The Place, 9-10 Bridge Street, Newport, NP20 4AL

It was formaly opened by the Mayor on Friday 25th July2025

You can come once to get the information you need, or you can come along as often as you want to spend time with people who understand your situation. Pop in for a chat, or join in any activities on the day. You'll always be welcome. This new opportunity will run weekly, every Friday from 10.30 - 13.30.

Newport Carers forum ran from 2010 to 2021 when it closed due to Covid restrictions on face to face meetings. It restarted in September 2024 and we are always happy to have new unpaid, family carers in our area join our friendly forum.We get together for meetings, coffee mornings, pamper days, 10 pin bowling, craft sessions, lunches etc., to give them a few hours respite from caring and to disseminate relevant information.

Who do we support

Any unpaid family carer over 18 years of age (we are not able to include younger carers, as they are covered by Bernados in the Newport area) in the Newport area, regardless of the condition Alzheimer's, Parkinson's , MS, Mental Health, disability etc., of their cared for. We also include former carers, as their cared for may have passed away or have gone into a care facility. They often have problems of what to do with their lives. Free time may be unusual for them and they may not know what to do when caring stops. They also have a wealth of knowledge, which they can share.

This service is for people of all ages.

Can anyone use this service?

Any unpaid family carer can come along, no referral needed.
