The counselling service is free to all carers over the age of 18. “Most of us will feel under pressure at some time in our life” explained Christine Nutt, Counsellor “carers spend their life juggling their caring responsibilities with jobs, family friends and running a home. Counselling can help clarify our emotions and thoughts when we feel that our lives are becoming too stressful and that we are not coping very well. Counselling can also help us not to be overwhelmed by what is happening in our life. Sometimes a small intervention early on in the event will help us to deal with it better. I would say to any carer - don’t let things get to the point where you feel overwhelmed – come in and talk to me – the hardest thing you will have to do is to make that first phone call to the Carers Centre.”
Carers - someone who is looking after a child, friend, partner or relative who cannot manage without their help
