Have choice and take control
There is an Eye Care Liaison Officer (ECLO) available in every eye clinic in Wales. ECLOs work closely with medical and nursing staff in the eye clinic, and the sensory team in social services. They give people who have been diagnosed with an eye condition the practical and emotional support they need to understand their diagnosis, deal with their sight loss and maintain their independence. ECLOs act as an important bridge between health and social services and are central to the support and wellbeing of patients in eye clinics. They also help prevent avoidable sight loss, by talking through treatment and helping people to understand their medication if necessary. https://www.rnib.org.uk/your-eyes/navigating-sight-loss/eye-care-liaison-officers-eclos/.
