Who do we support
The Occupational Therapy Service works with both children and adults to offer functional assessments to support people with disabilities or chronic illnesses to remain independent for as long as possible and to achieve what is important to them as individuals in line with their well-being outcomes.
The service works closely with local housing providers to ensure that citizens have the right kind of housing to allow them to be as independent as possible. This can involve the provision of large adaptations to meet the identified need such as a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, where more simple solutions like a stair lift may not be suitable. It may also involve supporting a person to move to a more suitable property, either one already adapted, or even a new purpose built property.
We support citizens returning home from hospital to continue their reablement, so they are able to regain their skills and remain independent.
