What we do

Makaton is a language programme that use signs and speech together, along with symbols to help all children with communication.

The course consists of six, one hour fun and interactive sessions designed to encourage the development of communication and language skills in babies, toddlers and young children. Topics include: Saying hello, eating and drinking, developing skills, going out, family, animals and using Makaton in play. You will also learn signing hints and tips for effective communication.

I have twenty five years professional experience of working with young children and their families and am passionate about working with children with additional needs. I am a qualified Makaton Signing for Babies and Families Trainer and have used Makaton for many years, both professionally and personally.

Who do we support

Makaton Signing for Babies and Families training is for parents, family members, carers and professionals who would like to sign with the babies and young children (up to the age of seven years old) in their care. These sessions are designed for you and your child to have fun, bond and learn together.

This service is for people of all ages.

Is there a charge to use this service?

Yes - Cost is £55 which includes a MSBF Pocket Book and emailed handouts at the end of every session. Alternatively if you are interested in face to face or online sessions for whole staff teams at your setting at a time that suits you, please contact me to discuss costs. I am also happy to run free taster sessions for organisations.

Can anyone use this service?

Makaton Signing for Babies and Families training is for parents, family members, carers and professionals who would like to sign with the babies and young children (up to the age of seven years old) in their care.

The next courses are being run online.

The first is starting on Tuesday 14th November morning from 10-11am for six weeks.

The second is running from Saturday 6th January - Saturday 3rd February and 6th session is Saturday 24th February from 10 - 11 am.
