SHADE is a self-help group for men and women who suffer from depression and anxiety. The group provides a safe, supportive and respectful place to meet and talk with others who have depression. It was set up in 1999 by a member who suffers with depression. We meet in Danygraig Church Hall, Risca on Tuesday evenings 7-9pm and on Thursday afternoons from 1pm - 3pm. There is no charge to join.SHADE meets for an informal chat and coffee, giving everyone the opportunity to speak if they want to and say how they are feeling. People are able to share their experiences, learning from and helping each other. Sometimes members go out for a meal, or have a games evening; speakers are invited to hold talks on depression or other topics, always keeping it relaxed and adding an element of fun.
