What we do

Prison In Reach is a project that concentrates on helping people in HMP Berwyn and HMP Styal with drug and alcohol issues. We work with individuals pre-release and after they are released from prison. We help people start their journey of recovery by building a recovery pathway that is tailored to them individually. The service covers the six counties of North Wales from Anglesey up to Wrexham and works out of HMP Berwyn with males and Styal with females. Prison In Reach is an important service as it gives prison leavers a smooth transfer of care from custody back into the community.

Who do we support

The people we support are people in prison who have issues with drugs and alcohol and would like recovery. Many of these individuals have crimes that are a result of them using substances and often being under the influence when committing these crimes. We offer rehab, detox, one-to-one’s, and psychosocial interventions for anyone residing in North Wales upon release. The psychosocial interventions include sessions such as relapse prevention, triggers, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing.

This service is for people aged 18+.

Individuals must be residing in North Wales upon release and be aged 18 years or older to be eligible for the service.
