Adferiad Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) works alongside the NHS early intervention service for psychosis in Swansea Bay. The service is directed at those who have experienced a first episode of psychosis and aims to aid in recovery during the early stages of psychosis, schizophrenia and other presentations of schizophreniform symptoms. The service is important, as often with conditions such as psychosis and schizophrenia, there are many obstacles that those diagnosed face on a daily basis. This includes other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation and many more. As well as these, physiological problems such as deteriorated physical health, weight gain, reduced cardiovascular fitness are also challenges that are faced.
Our service provides support and interventions for those between the ages of 14 and 35 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Our service users reside in all areas across Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The patients that we see and provide support for are those currently accessing the early intervention for psychosis service in the NHS, where the care coordinators for these individuals see it suitable for their patients to engage in psychosocial intervention. Referrals are taken from anyone, including self-referrals.
