Have choice and take control
Provides support for the elderly through volunteer befrienders. Short term, long term and telephone. DPVC run a long term befriending project. It aims to reduce social isolation of older people in Cardiff and the Vale. Originally supported by the Big Lottery the project is now completely funded by DPVC. Volunteers from DPVC encourage and support older people to become more involved with their communities, families and friends. We can offer short or long term befriending, telephone befriending, support to get out and about again after a hospital stay or bereavement or illness.
