Have choice and take control
The Education Welfare Service works in close partnership with schools, other professionals within the LA, the Health Service and other statutory and voluntary agencies in Cardiff in order to promote and enforce regular and punctual school attendance of children of compulsory school age who reside in Cardiff. Education Welfare Officers (EWOs) work closely with schools, pupils and their families to identify problems, personal and/or social issues that may affect the attendance, progress, and well being of children and young people. This is carried out through meetings with key school staff, home visits, liaison with a variety of agencies to support families to overcome such difficulties to ensure children and young people are able to access their education provision in order to achieve their full potential.
