What we do

The Shopmobility service in Wrexham is run by AVOW, and operates a fleet of manual and electrically powered wheelchairs and scooters for use by anyone with mobility problems. Once a member, you just book the machine for when you need it.

If you have never used a machine before rest assured ours are simple to operate. They are designed for use on pavements and will travel at walking pace driven by easy to use controls. For those of you unfamiliar with this kind of equipment training will be provided.

We also have range of wheelchairs, disability pushchairs available for hire and Boot Scooters that fit into a car so you could take them away for you - ideal if you are having a short break away (in the UK!) and need some assistance with your mobility.

Who do we support

Our services and equipment are available for hire by anyone with or caring for someone with mobility issues, whether permanent or temporary. You do not need to be registered as disabled or have a diagnosis of a disability. If you or someone you are caring for have mobility issues we are here to help and support you.

This service is for people aged 18+.

Is there a charge to use this service?

Yes - Day scooters can be hired for just £5.00 a day for use within Wrexham city centre.
For those requiring a longer hire or to go beyond Wrexham city centre, we have 6 ‘boot’ scooters that fold down and fit into the boot of a car or can go on a bus (a bus permit is required): ideal for short breaks away and only £10.00 a day (deposit required)!
A number of Disability pushchairs
& Wheelchairs are also available for hire at Shopmobility for use within Wrexham City Centre or further afield. Prices start at £3.50 per day for same-day return. For long-term hire, the cost is £5.00 per day.
