What we do

Telecare uses a combination of discreet sensors and other equipment to enable vulnerable people to live with greater independence and safety in their own home and community. Individuals or their carers can raise a call for help if needed by the push of a button; once pressed it will allow two-way speech between the individual and our monitoring centre operators who will contact your chosen responders or emergency services depending on the support users need.
Some Telecare devices can automatically send for help when needed, without the press of the button.

Who do we support

Anyone can apply for TeleV but the majority of our users are vulnerable adults looking to remain independent while knowing they can get the help they need if they should so need it.
There is a higher level of service, TeleV+, for individuals and carers who have greater needs.

Is there a charge to use this service?

Yes - TeleV currently consists of an alarm button and a lifeline unit. You can ask to speak to one of our Telecare Support Officers to discuss other available equipment.
There is an ongoing monitoring charge of £5.76 per week.
The charge for our TeleV+ service will be dependable on the persons package of care, but we can also offer a financial assessment.

Can anyone use this service?

Anyone can request TeleV by ringing the generic Vale of Glamorgan Council number 01446 700111 the operators will arrange for an information guide, leaflet and an application pack to be sent out to you. If you need assistance filling out the application pack a Telecare Support Officer can come out to assist you free of charge. TeleV+ referrals are usually made via a Health or Social Care professional, but self-referrals are also accepted.
