What we do

A care home is a residential setting where a number of people live.

Residential care is often provided for people that may have difficulty living independently, however some people prefer to live in a residential care facility due to it providing security, social interaction and ongoing support and assistance that is unobtainable through care at home (i.e. domiciliary care). People often have the misconception that residential care is a "last resort" and only need a care home when they are very unwell or completely unable to manage, however there are many residents that simply enjoy the many benefits a care home has to offer.

Yr Hen Rheithordy (The Old Rectory) is a 17th Century grade II listed building with 18th century additions situated in the quiet village of Llanfechell on the Northern Coast of Anglesey not far from Cemaes Bay (2 miles). The house is decorated in keeping with its listing, has large and extensive walled gardens and private car parking facilities. Telephones, tablets, touchscreen computers and free WIFI are available to all, and support is offered to use these if required.

Can anyone use this service?

Yr Hen Rheithordy is a Short Break service, offering respite care to adults with learning disabilities aged eighteen years and older, providing we continue to meet the social care needs of the Individual, and they do not need nursing care. Yr Hen Rheithordy can accommodate up to 4 people at any one time plus facilities for an emergency bed, which must be accessed through Ynys Môn Local Authority Social Services Department (01248 752700).
